Timeline
ACHIEVEMENTS
March 2009 - first villages in Kilwa District, Southern Tanzania, audited and FSC-certified.
October 2009 – Sandali Wood sawmill in Tanga, Tanzania, audited and FSC-certified.
December 2009 – first harvest of FSC-certified African blackwood takes place in Kikole village forest reserve.
March 2010 – Klicksi Ltd, a UK wood importer, audited, FSC-certified and in agreement to distribute FSC-certified African blackwood.
March 2010 - Hanson Clarinets, the UK’s largest clarinet manufacturer, audited, FSC-certified and working hard to launch the world’s first FSC-certified woodwind instrument.
June 2010 – first FSC-certified African blackwood processed at sawmill in Tanzania.
GOALS
Summer 2010 - Hanson Music to receive their first batch of FSC-CAB.
Summer 2010 – Additional manufacturers, including a major oboe manufacturer, join the chain of custody and order FSC-certified African blackwood for use in their instruments.
Autumn 2010 – The second harvest of FSC-certified African blackwood takes place in Kisangi Village Land Forest Reserve.
Winter 2010 - the world’s first FSC-certified clarinets to be launched onto the market by Hanson.
