SOUND & FAIR LOBBIES FOR RESPONSIBLE USE OF WOOD AT MUSIKMESSE 2011

Sound & Fair is currently exhibiting at Musikmesse in Frankfurt, promoting FSC-certified African blackwood and lobbying instrument manufacturers to use legal, traceable and responsible sources of wood.

The Sound & Fair booth is located in the Woodwind Hall in the midst of Buffet Crampon, Conn-Selmer, Yamaha, Loree, Howarth, Marigaux, Fossati, Puchner, Rigoutat, Henri-Selmer Paris, as well as numerous other woodwind manufacturers.

Attending Musikmesse with Sound & Fair are chain of custody partners, Klicksi Ltd and Sandali Wood Industries.

Klicksi Ltd, represented by Salim Fazal, are the sole distributors of African blackwood and other timbers from the FSC-certified community-managed forests in Kilwa District, Tanzania.

Sandali Wood Industries, represented by Azim Fazal, are the sole FSC-certified woodmill in Tanzania and currently process all wood harvested from the FSC-certified community-managed forests in Kilwa District, Tanzania.

The Sound & Fair stand is displaying the full range of output from Sandali Wood Industries from large pieces of African blackwood for specialist instruments such as bass clarinets to guitar finger boards.

In addition to African blackwood, Klicksi Ltd can now supply FSC-certified Panga-panga, FSC-certified Afzelia and FSC-certified Msenjele (Acacia Nigrescens).

Also, displayed on the stand is the Hanson FSC-certified clarinet, the first woodwind instrument of its kind in the world.
